About Your Mentor
Eric Michael Roberts, MPT, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and is a graduate of the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology. He is the founder and lead instructor of the Apex Piano Technicians Network (APTN) and serves as the lead technician for the Apex team in the Nashville, Tennessee area.
For more than 18 years, Eric has worked full-time as an independent piano technician, completing thousands of service calls and building one of the largest independent piano service businesses in the region, with more than 5,000 clients. His work ranges from tuning family pianos in living rooms to preparing concert instruments and recording pianos for some of the music industry’s biggest names.
On any given day, Eric may tune a piano for a homeowner in the morning and then prepare a studio piano for a major-label recording session for artists such as Eric Church later that afternoon. He regularly works with Grammy Award-winning recording artists, Grammy Award-winning producers, professional touring musicians, churches, universities, and recording studios throughout the Nashville music community.
Throughout his career, Eric has had the privilege of working with world-class artists including Harry Connick Jr., John Legend, Kip Moore, Orville Peck, Idina Menzel (Disney’s Frozen), June Carter Cash, Michael Webb (Hank Williams Jr.), James Stafford (Train), Tim Rosenau (TobyMac), Rob Frazier (Petra), Alex Goot, Eric Church, Mark Lowry, Tony Bennett, Billy Ray Cyrus, Firerose, David Gant (Garth Brooks), and many others.
As an educator, Eric is passionate about helping others build successful careers in piano technology. His APTN training videos have generated more than one million views, and he has personally trained and mentored students throughout the United States as well as internationally, including Canada, England, and Singapore.
Today, Eric continues to mentor piano technicians around the world, helping them master tuning, repairs, customer service, and business systems so they can build profitable, independent careers. Many Apex graduates have gone on to establish highly successful piano service businesses and have earned outstanding reputations in their own communities.
